Selection Process

 

Article III, Section I, Part B of the FS Constitution States:

​

B. Full-time Faculty Departmental Representatives

  1. Consist of one (1)* faculty member from each instructional department as defined by the college. 

  2. May be a member of a standing committee but cannot be chair of a standing committee nor an officer of FS

  3. Are elected by each department annually for 1 year terms with no term limits on the number of years served. 

  4. If no faculty member runs for the office, the Department Chair may appoint a representative.

  5. Are permitted a reduction of weekly posted office hours by one (1) to allow time to attend to  Faculty Senate Business. 

         

*Departments with only 1 full-time faculty member may choose to join another department for representation. â€‹

Constitutional Duties and Responsibilites 

 

Article III, Section II of the FS Constitution States:

​

A. attend all Faculty Senate and Faculty Association meetings​

B. arrange for a substitute who is an Associate member to attend upon members absence. Departmental and non faculty representatives may select substitutes for no more than two meeting per year. Exceptions to the clause may be approved by the FS President. 

C. send monthly information email(s) of have a discussion face to face with all department members, briefly summarizing issues and discussions (especially as related to the department's interest)

D. canvasses all departmental members on issues discussed at FS meetings, as necessary, to determine department's majority position

E. presents issues to Faculty Senate 

F. vote on department's majority position on issues presented, after discussion within the department

G. collect annual FA dues within representative's department 

H. recruit members for the Association
